Franklin Rocker Celebrates Single Release at Local Farm

By J.D. O’Gara

New England Music Awards’ “Female Performer of the Year” winner (2021) Jennifer Tefft celebrated the release of her brand new single “Love and War” with a concert at Tangerini’s Spring Street Farm in Millis on September 8th.

Jennifer grew up in Medfield and currently lives in Franklin with her 2 kids. The artist, who frequently plays solo at Tangerinis, brought her full band Jennifer Tefft & The Strange to her favorite family farm for an evening of alternative rock, farm fare and craft cocktails.

“I play at Tangerini’s during their lunch hours – solo acoustic play. I really love the farm and I love (owners) Linda and Steve,” says Tefft. She chose the venue for her release because, “There aren’t many original music rooms around. There are a lot of bars, but they’re largely cover band-oriented, so a lot of my original music friends, we sort of create our own spaces.”

Jennifer Tefft and The Strange have put out five albums and a handful of singles, but “Love and War” is the first release from the newest formation of her band, which includes new bass player Stephen Beccia, new drummer Chris Georgenes, and John Parrillo, who has played guitar with Tefft for years.

“I’m really excited, because the new lineup has brought a ton of energy to what I do,” says the musician. “We’re just having so much fun.”

The band has signed on with new music producer Bob St. John, who has worked with Duran Duran, Extreme and Lisa Loeb. “I’m really excited to work with him and see what we can do together,” says Tefft, who feels fortunate to “make a living making music, doing what I love.”

Potential fans can, of course, find Tefft’s alternative tunes on the mainstream platforms, but she hopes to direct listeners to her website, http://www.jennifertefft.com, where they can listen, purchase, and download her music.
