Franklin, MA — The Rotary Club of Franklin proudly celebrates its 95th anniversary, marking nearly a century of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to the Rotary motto: “Service Above Self.” Chartered on May 30, 1930, the Club has left an enduring mark on the Franklin community and beyond—supporting local initiatives, youth development, international service, and community enrichment projects.

Beloved traditions continue today, including the Annual Valentine’s Day Brunch and Pasta Supper, where Rotarians prepare and serve homemade meals for Franklin seniors and Housing Authority residents. The Annual Car Show Fundraiser is coming up in early October.

“We are incredibly proud to celebrate 95 years of making a difference,” said Co-President Diane Padula. “This milestone reflects our deep roots in the community and our ongoing commitment to service.”

From awarding scholarships and empowering youth through RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), to supporting organizations like the Franklin Food Pantry, the Club’s contributions are visible across town. Notable community enhancements include lighting and benches on the Franklin Town Common, and the velvet stage curtain in the former Franklin Junior High School—still admired during local performances.

“Many folks may remember the very popular Franklin Home and Trade Show, held for years at the FHS Field House,” said Co-President and Rotary Head Chef Joe Collins. 

Looking ahead, the Club is launching new initiatives to further its legacy. Most recently, the Rotary Club of Franklin has partnered with Franklin Newcomers & Friends to continue their Annual Craft Fair, now set for November 8th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School.

“After 50 years, Franklin Newcomers is passing the torch to the Rotary Club. We knew it would be a good fit, because our organizations share the same values—bringing people together for fun, while giving back to our community,” said Padula.
