Call for Artists: Interactive Pop-Up Art Installation

The Town of Franklin is looking for an artist or designer to create a fun, interactive pop-up art piece that people can engage with and take photos in front of. This piece will first appear at the Franklin Arts & Culture Symposium and then pop up again at several community events—including fall markets, international celebrations tied to the 2026 World Cup, and Franklin’s MA250 events.

The final design will be printed on lightweight, durable foam boards—so it needs to be bold, eye-catching, and easy to set up in different places. (Artists/Designers will not need to pay for the printing of their piece, stipend is for design).

We’re looking for designs that:

  • Encourage people to stop, interact, and take photos
  • Celebrate community, creativity, and joy
  • Can be broken down or reassembled for different events
  • Work well as printed cut-out shapes

Deadline to Apply: Friday, August 22, 2025

Artist Stipend: $1,000

To Apply, Submit:

  • A sketch or visual mock-up of your idea
  • A short project description (up to 300 words)
  • Your bio and a few samples of past work

Email your proposal to: Cory Shea, Director of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy
