Fakes and Forgeries Draws Outside Artists to Franklin Mix

The first annual Franklin Art Association “Fakes & Forgeries” exhibit took place at the Franklin Historical Museum on Saturday, June 7th, running through June 22nd. Sue Sheridan, of the Franklin Art Association, said the event was a “win-win” for both the Franklin Art Association and the Franklin Art Museum. About 75% of the submissions came from artists from the wider community outside Franklin.
“We invited all artists to participate for no fee, no cost or commission, so it gave people the opportunity to show their work in a nice setting,” said Sheridan.
At the end of the day, artist Jamie Derr’s rendition of John Singer Sargent’s 1892 painting of “Lady Agnew of Lochnaw” won the People’s Choice for Best in Show.
