Franklin Memorial Day Events

Friday, May 26, 9-11 a.m. Memorial Day Breakfast at the Senior Center.
Open to Veterans and community members. 
Breakfast prepared by students from Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School’s culinary department under the direction of Nancy Haney. Sponsored by the Friends of Franklin Elders.
Franklin High School choir will perform. Veteran advocate Rose Turco and State Rep. Jeff Roy will be the guest speakers

Monday, May 29, Memorial Day Parade. Starts at Dean College on Main St. at 10:30 a.m., turns onto School St. by the library, continues to the end of School street, turns right onto Route 140. Follows 140, takes a right at Beaver St. and ends at the Town Common by St. Mary’s Church. There will be rifle salutes at Dean College and Union St. and St. Mary’s cemeteries. Parade Grand Marshal will be Mark Ellis, Franklin Elks Lodge Veteran Liaison and longtime Veteran Community Advocate. Local Boys and Girls Scout troops will participate along with five Franklin school bands. 
The parade is being organized by American Legion Post 75, VFW Post 3402 and the Franklin Veterans’ Council.
Monday, May 29, 12:00 p.m. Memorial Day Ceremony on the Town Common.
Parade Grand Marshal Mark Ellis will be the featured speaker.
American Legion Post 75 will provide a Color Guard and rifle salute.
Franklin High School band will perform the National Anthem.
VFW members will toll the bell and read the names of all Franklin Veterans who have passed since last Memorial Day, as well the names of Franklin’s 45 fallen heroes who have died in combat since WWI.
