Shamrock Walk for Refugees March 19, Franklin High School Track

Why:
The arrival of 60,000 Afghan evacuees in the US has created an unprecedented
need for resettlement services. WelcomeNST and Ascentria Care Alliance have
partnered to meet this need in the MA, NH and greater New England areas by
pioneering an innovative resettlement model, built around the formation of Neighborhood
Support Teams (NSTs). Powered by the generosity of our communities,
each NST is composed of 20-30 volunteers who welcome and support one Afghan
family in their community, under the guidance of an Ascentria case manager. Thousands
of Afghan refugees continue to live on U.S. military bases awaiting more
permanent housing. Many risked their own safety to aid our government and troops.
Most left Afghanistan with little notice and nothing but the clothes on their backs.
How will it work?
The goal is to raise awareness and funds to support refugees in our community. To do this each "walker" will raise money through pledges. To gather pledges, have your "pledgers" complete the form at www.walkforrefugees.org and enter your name. For every $20 dollars that you raise through pledges, your name will be entered in a raffle for prizes given out at the end of the event. Special recognition will be given to the walker with the most money
pledged!
Not local? No problem! Register as a "virtual participant" and raise money through pledges from anywhere.
