Each year, Dean College awards three local high school students’ scholarships to attend Dean College. These scholarships include the Franklin High School Scholarship, Hockomock YMCA Scholarship and Tri-County Scholarship. For each, a deserving senior is awarded $35,000, which is renewable each year provided the student maintains a 2.7 GPA or higher.

To apply, a student must submit an essay about what prompted them to apply to Dean and how they hope to contribute to the Dean community. They must also include a letter of recommendation from a school administrator, counselor or teacher. After all materials are reviewed, applicants meet with the scholarship selection committee for an interview.

Local students receiving awards this year include Declan Lynch, Franklin High School Scholarship; Madison Frechette, Hockomock YMCA Scholarship; and Taylor Tremblay, Tri-County Scholarship

Franklin High School Scholarship recipient Declan Lynch is excited to be attending Dean and is looking forward to the supportive, small campus that Dean provides.

“I chose Dean College, because it’s close to home and can give me the learning support that I need to be successful. I like the small campus, which will let me get to know people. In addition, Dean offers a Best Buddies program, which I’ve been involved in for a long time. I’m thrilled to receive the FHS Dean Scholarship and will do my best to be a great Bulldog.”

Hockomock YMCA Scholarship recipient Madison Frechette is looking forward to creating her own path at Dean.

“Dean College is designed to be pliable, as it bends and shapes into whatever you chose to make of it. This characteristic is rare and desired by many students, including myself, who want to have a sense of control in their education. I chose Dean College because I wanted to create my own path, have a school that would back me in these dreams and achieve my fullest potential, all while being a part of a big family. Many of my dance instructors and mentors are alumni of this school, making me feel even more welcome to the Dean family.”

Tri-County Scholarship recipient Taylor Tremblay is excited to become a part of the Dean Community this fall.

“I chose Dean, because I fell in love with how involved I could be in my classes, clubs and the community. Since I am from the town of Franklin, I've seen the campus many times and Dean feels like home to me. The Communications program offers so many opportunities to take what I've learned and start my journey to my dream career. I'm so grateful for my scholarship and that Dean chose me to be a part of The Dean Difference.”

Congratulations to these future Dean College Bulldogs. If you are a current high school senior eligible and interested in one of these local scholarships, contact your high school guidance office for more information.
